SUBIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY,
INC.
Subic Telecom, a wholly owned
company of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT),
to offer telecommunications services and products to corporate
and residential customers in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone,
Philippines. It started as a joint venture of AT&T, PLDT
and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
Subic Telecom is using a Lucent
5ESS Digital Switch which serves as a local toll and International
Gateway Switch which with C7 TUP and ISUP signaling protocols.
Remote switches were deployed via fiber optic technology including
a Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) Transmission System,
which significantly increased the network capability to handle
higher volume.
In 1998, Subic Telecom acquired
capacity from Guam-Philippine Cable System and TPC-5 Cable
System that will allow interconnection to any International
Telecom Carrier in the world. This facility can carry voice,
video and data information.
On September 5, 2001, Subic
Telecom entered into a Facility Management Agreement with
Piltel (another PTE) which Subic Telecom undertook the management,
operations and maintenance of Piltel telephone network, customer
service and network operations.
Utilizing this state of the
art telecommunications infrastructure, Subic Telecom offers
a whole range of telecom products and services such as Basic
Telephone Service, Domestic and International Long Distance
Services, Prepaid Phone Cards, Operator and Telemarketing
Services, ISDN, Domestic and International Data Services and
Internet.
